在艺术家以往的研究中,社会群体的意识形态成为创作的出发点,她对关于存在的和可能存在的问题进行探讨。消费主义,娱乐产业,媒体真实性,社会规训诸如此类的现象如何随时代环境变化作用在个体身上,并影响他们价值观的变化。她以一种宏观的叙述,寻找讨论的切入点,进行反思。在思考的过程中,求真成为极为重要的问题。创作方式成为反应这种问题的一个方面。驻地之前,艺术家开始了对于不同创作方式的尝试。

In the artist’s previous research, the ideology of the social group has become the starting point of creation, and the existing and possibly existing problems were discussed. She uses a macro narrative to find the starting point of the discussion and rethinking. In the process of thinking, “seeking truth” has become an extremely important issue. The way of creation becomes an aspect that reflects this kind of problem. Before the residency, the artist started the experiment of different ways of working.

By placing herself into the phenomenon, with changes in experience and emotions as a starting point, she tried further exploration of existing phenomena brought along. That is the doubts about established concepts and critical thinking under social discipline. In a specific location, under the general background.

The development of works in a relatively subjective way guarantees a certain degree of freedom. This kind of adventure is also, to some extent, the closest way to the field of practice, performance. If the way of creation is a process from the beginning to the end, then the works this time are an experiment in the exchange positions of the starting and ending.

At the same time, after putting herself in the phenomenon itself, she has the thinking about” what is real”. Language can express, but it is a cover cloth and a wall in the middle of the process of seeking the truth. There is more interactive participation has taken place in the works of this exhibition, which is a kind of conservative protection of truth. By placing the discussion in a documentary way, any possibly indoctrinated expression is removed—how we view it determines what it is. It can be about power, self, resistance, and reflection.

朱子仪,1994年出生于中国。就读于英国皇家艺术学院当代艺术实践专业。现在生活和工作在伦敦和上海。《Notzine》创办人。跨领域艺术家,其作品形式包括行为,影像,装置和诗歌。曾就读于爱丁堡大学,东华大学,纽约城市学院以及英国皇家艺术学院。其作品在上海,北京,澳门和伦敦等地展出。 

最近几年她专注于讨论社会群体与个体之间的批判性关系以及他们之间的相互作用。在当代社会中,作为个体的我们如何被群体价值观的进化裹挟;当代社会现象和运动发生时,个体的参与又如何与社会发展的形态发生互动。

Zhu Ziyi, b. 1994 China. Now work and live in London / Shanghai. Studying at Royal College of Art, contemporary art practice. Founder of Notzine. 

Interdisciplinary artist. Her practices include performance, video, installation, and poem. She studied at Edinburgh College of Art, Donghua University, City College of New York, and Royal College of Art. Her works have been exhibited in Shanghai, Beijing, Macao, and London. 

She has been focusing on the critical relationship and interaction between society and individuals in recent years. In contemporary society, how are we, as individuals, bound by the evaluation of group values. How does individual participation interact with the social development pattern when social movement and phenomenon happens?

She tries to explore the problems that we may be facing at the moment: How do the individuals’ choices affecting the direction of society’s development. She is looking for a new, independent ideology under this context. What is the ‘problem’? Do we have a choice? After placing herself in midst of the phenomenon itself, she completes the thinking towards ‘authenticity ’. Through body, performance, and experiment of works, she completes the reflection.
