Artist China http://morine-liangmoyun.weebly.com/ Residency Period: 2018
Formally trained in printmaking, Morine used diverse medium, materials, and approaches to convey her ideas and concerns while developing narratives and discourse. Her passion for the art making in her early years in China led her to learn the techniques of a traditional woodcut from the famous printmaker Gu- Zhi Jun print workshop.
Personal relationships between people and gray areas in society often inspire her works. Currently, she is looking at the multi-layered relationships in human communications as well as the relationships between human beings and the society. Through her personal life experiences and her observations of others’ lives, she became fascinated by the idea of impermanence, change and multi-faceted dimensions within relationships among humans beings. The idea of how changes in environment and culture influence an individual, and how an individual, in turn, responds to the environment brings can about multi-directional impact and change.
