Derek G. Larson received his MFA from the Yale School of Art and has participated in a number of national and international exhibitions and residencies, with recent shows at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond; Human Resources, Los Angeles; Upfor, Portland; POWRPLNT, Brooklyn. In 2013 he published an online exhibit for Big Red & Shiny in Boston and was a finalist for the Hudgens Prize in Atlanta. In 2014 he received the SECAC Fellowship and David Bermant Fellowship. He is represented by ADA Gallery and has been nominated for a Joan Mitchell Award. His work has been featured in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Boston Globe, Seattle Times, NY Arts Magazine and New American Paintings. With prior experience as a video editor at PBS, Larson's work combines painting, performance, animation and video. At Yale he studied with Jessica Stockholder, combining sculpture and projected animation. His current work investigates science fiction, autoimmune diseases and malls.
